I am trying to update the firmware on my AP9631 using "Network Management Card 2 (NMC2) v7.1.2 Firmware for Smart-UPS with AP9630/31". The card is in a Smart-UPS RT 8000 RM XL. The card is currently running version APC-OS 6.4.0.
I downloaded the firmware update utility package "apc_hw05_aos712_sumx712_bootmon109.exe" and extracted the files. I ran the updater application, specified the IP, username, and password for my UPS. I pressed Start Update. It then gave the warning "Firmware distribution does not match target device platform; this could be due to a corrupt distribution" and then shortly after it aborts with "Update could not be completed successfully!"
The UPS reports the following information:
Application Module
Name: sumx
Version: v6.4.0
Date: Dec 18 2015
Time: 15:14:26
APC OS (AOS)
Name: aos
Version: v6.4.0
Date: Dec 18 2015
Time: 15:04:27
APC Boot Monitor
Name: bootmon
Version: v1.0.8
Date: Apr 8 2014
Time: 10:59:40
The firmware updater application reports it contains:
Boot Monitor: apc_hw05_bootmon_109.bin
Operating System: apc_hw05_aos_712.bin
Application: apc_hw05_sumx_712.bin
So, any help please?

I have resolved this problem by enabling Telnet, even though the updater allows you to select between FTP and SCP, which was already enabled. The updater was then able to complete successfully, after which I have disabled the unused protocols.
