I work for a telecommunications company and we use apc ups 3000xl. For the past three days we have been experiencing the ups performing warmstarts periodically. Is this a symptom of a major issue or failure to come or something minor within the ups and NMC?

Yes, I looked at knowledge base article 2572 prior to posting the question in the forum but wanted to see if any one had similar issues and what they may have done to alleviate them. We have two SU3000RMXL3U, one with an AP9617 NMC and the other has an AP9619 NMC. These are both in the same location, wire closet, on different switches and are both experiencing the warmstarts. Our network guy is out until Wednesday so we haven't tried to change port assignments yet but that is an option we have discussed. When he gets back we have also discussed port monitoring for both ups. Should we go ahead and update the firmware before doing any of this?

Kindly provide the model and serial number of your NMC together with the firmware that is installed on it. It would also help if you could provide the event and data texts/ files of your NMC. i'd also like to make this clear - warmstarts affect only the network management card and not the UPS. it indicates the NMC is rebooting its management interface for one reason or another, per JonPro's post and reference to the knowledgebase article.

Have you looked at the knowledge bases that I've sent? Do you have any other NMC on your end, if you do can you tell us if they are all doing the same thing? Let us start with upgrading your firmware to v3.7.2 here is the guide on how would you do that --> http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=768 and here is the download link for the firmware --> http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SFSUMX372. Is the NMC connected to a router/ switch? Have you tried changing the ports where it is plugged in?
