Symmetra RM 6kVA problems

Today my servers all went down. I went to look and it seemed my UPS had just died. The PowerView display seemed normal and the Main Intelligence Unit had one yellow light on (I cannot seem to find out what this means). I could not do anything with the PowerView display. Everything that I tried, it said it could not do (put into bypass, reboot, etc). I unplugged it and plugged it back in and now it just says "Please Wait..." forever. I put the system on bypass with the switch on the back and the servers came back up.

l pulled the Main Intelligence Unit and nothing much changed... until I put it back in. After messing with it, it now seems that when the Main Intelligence Unit is plugged in, both units have only one yellow light on. When I pull the main one out, the redundant one seems to work (has the light pattern for "on bypass") but my PowerView still won't work. It also does not work when I plug it into the port on the back of the unit. It still says "please wait." I tried pulling the cards on the back of the Symmetra and re-seating, but nothing changed.

If I try to flip the switch on the back to bring the unit out of bypass, everything plugged into it goes down. The fans on the power supply modules up front do not spin. FYI, I have another identical system that I can borrow parts for to test, but it is in use too, so I cannot bring it down.

Anyone know what I should do next or what is wrong? I suspect the Main Intelligence Unit, but shouldnt it work with it out and the redundant one in? Thanks.

I did trade the Main Intelligence Unit this morning with another known good unit and that seems to have fixed it. I have to buy one now... Thanks.

I should also say that when I connect via the network interface web page, at the top it says "Searching for a Symmetra Power Array..."

Earlier today it said "Serial Communication Lost" but it does not now.

Hi rearview,

The redundant intelligence module in this unit has limited capabilities - in this case, all it will really do is keep the unit running in the state it is currently operating in. Because you are in bypass, it cannot successfully come out of bypass, so flipping that maintenance bypass switch on the back will simply cut power to the load.

It does sound like the main intelligence module has failed, so I would recommend swapping it with a known working module from your other unit. If that swap allows you to bring the unit back online and operating normally, we can confirm that's the only failure with the unit.

You will not need to power down the load on your working unit (or put it in bypass) to remove the main intelligence module, as they are hot swappable.
