Symmetra RM 6000 and replacing battery

I'm replacing one of the batteries in our UPS, and whenever I try pushing the new (or old!) battery back into the bay, it won't seat all the way. It stops probably 1/4 inch away from the unit and won't go any further... I don't want to push so hard to break something inside, although I have pushed fairly hard and also gently slammed the battery into the bay and it just won't go any further. Even the old battery that I just removed does this. I've replaced batteries in other Symmetra RM 6000 units before without any issue, and it never took much force to put the new battery in. I don't want to remove another battery out of the unit in case it also has the same problem.... I'm running a little over 10 minutes of runtime as-is without the battery, and I don't want to lose any more. Should I apply more force and see if I can get it to seat, or am I stuck with a broken battery bay? I've attached photos of the socket in the back of the bay, and I've compared the 2 battery modules and they seem identical.

I just went back in there to try it again... wiggled it around, tried lifting as I pushed it in... I don't see anything on the battery that would be getting stuck. I did try to put a piece of cardboard under the battery to raise the 'back' of the it up slightly, thinking if the socket in the APC was a little high and raising the battery a little to match would help. That didn't seem to help. I may try to put the cardboard on one side or another, to shift the back of the pack around, in case for some reason the battery prongs are 'missing' the socket and just striking the socket itself and stopping it from seating fully.

Alright, if the cardboard doesn't work I would call into tech. support and get some more immediate troubleshooting advice. It doesn't sound like anything has shorted or that the batteries themselves are bad. It looks...okay from the picture but does the bay and the connectors on the backplane look any different than the other bays?

Yea, it appears that the socket is somehow damaged... I inspected it closely yesterday, and if you notice in the photos, the shiny 'plug' in the socket is not right... the battery's larger terminal hits that first, and since that shiny piece is blocking the hole, the battery won't seat all the way. I tried to see if it could be pushed back to where it needs to go, but it just won't move out of the way. I'm not sure how this happened, as the old battery was just pulled out like any other battery pack, but when the new one was inserted it must have damaged the socket. Very odd, I guess I'll call APC and see if they can fix this, or we might just get the battery expansion pack and forget about this bay.
