Hi experts,
Last weeks we had several major incidents, always on the same day & time, every 14 days. After some research I found out there is an 'old' SmartUPS 3000 between some of the impacted appliances, and it is displaying a battery error. So I can be pretty sure, the power outages are caused by the self-test every 14days.
Replacing the battery is not an option, our buildings electricity is covered completely by UPS and generators, the UPS just there for legacy reasons (due to aquisitions).
I don't have the time and maintenance window to just power it down and decommission it.
On the other hand, I have 5 days from now before the event will occur again, kinda sitting on a timebomb 🙂
In a manual I found (http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/ASTE-6Z8LLW_R1_EN.pdf) that the selftest can be disabled trough powerchute.
I installed the software but cannot find where to disable it.
Does anybody know a plain and simple way to disable this without bringing it down or interrupting it?
Tnx

I can't tell from the image if you have good communication between the UPS and the software.
PowerChute Business Edition runs as a service. You can access the important part via a web browser instead of the PCBE console.
Go to http://IP of this computer connected to UPS:3052 or https😕/IP of this computer connected to UPS:6547 and see if you can log in there and see any different options. Alternativley if you're local, you can substitute the loop back address 127.0.0.1 instead of the IP. This will give you access to the Agent for this particular UPS and hopefull you'll have more options there. This can also help me better understand if there is a communication problem too depending on what is on the screen if you can log in.

Thank you very much. That has solved my problem. I had good communication but the PowerChute software doesn't have access to all the parameters. I thought the web-gui was only for cummunicating through Ethernet with some kind of card on the UPS.
I have accessed with the loop back address and there I was able to change the self-test policy. Thanks again, problem solved.

No problem. I suggest the Agent interface if you only have one UPS. The Console you were using is to manage multiple agents over the network and is not used when you are using a management card.

As much as possible, I would still advise that you look into getting new batteries. In the event that a power problem comes in and the generator was too slow to kick in than the UPS, you might encounter a drop load scenario.

Tnx! I was looking at the fat client, didn't know there was a web-gui as well. Disabled & disarmed.
