Should I disable snmp v1 on my ups?
Hi,
I have 2 Smart up 3000 with service tag RBC43. I am frequently getting the following alert: “Detected an unauthorized user attempting to access the SNMP interface from ip ……” ( the ip is one of my internal network workstations)
I did some research and was told to turn off snmp v1 on my UPSs. I remoted into the UPSs and found that snmp v1 and v3 were enabled by default for them. Should I disable snmp v1? If I disable snmp, would the units still be abled to alert me when they are having issues?

If the UPS has been set up to use SMTP email notification than nothing will change on that front. SNMP is a protocol which allows two way communications from the UPS to a NMS (Network Monitoring System). Which allows real time and historic tracking of metrics of the UPS system.
You can certainly turn off SNMP v1 so long as you have confirmed nothing in your monitoring environment isn't using the same. Lots of legacy software / hardware still rely on SNMP v1 for communications.
