Server and UPS Upgrade?
Hi again!
I'm back again needing help deciding on a UPS and whether it would be worth upgrading my server.
UPS: So I currently have a 1200VA rack UPS for my dell r510 8 bay, my custom pfsense box, and my core data switch and poe switch and pi. But, it doesnt give me enough time to shutdown all my VM's and shutdown my server. So I was hoping to upgrade my UPS to either a HP or a APC 3000VA UPS, to give me a good amount of time to shut them down safely. The question I have is, should I choose APC or HP, which one would be quieter and how much time would it give me after the power goes out?
New server: I currently have a whitebox server running a quad core, ddr2 ram, and 5 2TB drives running of a cheapo raid card off amazon. The server runs my plex, websites, and backup. Ideally I would love a 20 3.5 bay case to move these components into and upgrade down the line, but I cannot find one anywhere. So i have resorted to an r510 with 12 bays. And my questions are, will this consume more or less power than the whitebox, and can the r510 handle plex transcodes or will it need a gpu installed?
