Hi everybody
from APC website, it seems that PCBE has support for some application, including SQLSERVER2008
see:
http://emea-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/11145/~/supported-versions-of-software-powerchute-bus...
but,I can't find any further document (or application notes) explaining how to that
anybody has done this or has further information?
I've been told that it'd be recommended to have SQL server doing a dump of memory before being shutting down.
anybody has done this? any advice?
thanks to everybody
Marco

Hi Marco,
Basically, if you install the PCBE Agent on a certain PC it would check if the applications mentioned on the knowledge base do exists. If they do, the Agent reports back to the PCBE Server those applications that it was able to find and then you can use PCBE to safely stop/shutdown those services prior to shutting down the operating system.
I have attached a screenshot of how it would look like if the Agent has detected some application.

Hi!
I've done what suggested,
I've installed the PCBE agent on srv2008 machines and PCBE console.
The console found sql server2008 on my server 20008 and allowed me to configure a time for shutdown sql server before shutting down the whole server
I believe that PCBE is handling the timing of shut process while it's not its responsability to shut down the specific application
is it correct?
I've also seen the single agent can be configured via web page as well via PCBE console
which of these setting has the highest priority? or they are just two interfaces for configuring the same things?
Thanks for your help
Marco
