Assuming you can obtain a copy of the last firmware release from APC Support. You'll need to have the serial (DB9) to RJ50 cable to upload the same to the UPS. If you had a NMC (Network Management Card) depending upon supported firmware of the UPS / NMC the firmware could be updated this way.
The NMC also has a 2.5 mm (Serial) radio jack that uses an APC USB to 2.5 mm cable.
NOTE: Updating the firmware on any (APC UPS) should be guided by their support staff. Unless there is a firmware that addresses a very specific fault, security, or required feature. Do NOT attempt to update the firmware on the unit because you have a more than 50% chance of bricking the UPS!
Given the unit is no longer in warranty you would be left with a heavy paper weight if the firmware update went south. 😓
