We have a UPS SMT1500RMI2UC. I thought the previous administrator had configured the UPS to manage the automatic shutdown of a server with Esxi Server. I realized that this was not the case. Everything worked in manual mode. I read a few articles and I think I understand that I need two things instead:
1) one NMC2 are connected at Lan
2) PowerChute Network Shutdown Appliance installed on Esxi

PowerChute Network Shutdown (PCNS) would be the right choice if you are looking to shutdown an ESXi server and it's associated VMs when there is a power disruption affecting the UPS. Depending on your setup, a license may be required.
