Powerchute desktop application for Windows is very old and is becoming allmost unusable, expecially on pc in active directory domain lans.
E.g. Domain users cannot neither open the app to view content that the app itself ask for administrator privileges even to watch statistics...
This is no good.
Anyone knows when this application will be updated to work correctly on new PC/OSes?
Thanks
Regards
Massimo

it's incredible that SE has not updated the application since 2012
it's becoming really obsolete (see the problem that you have to enter administrator privileges just to watch ups statistics)

Hi,
We Apologize for the inconvenience. If you are not happy with PowerChute Personal Edition you have the option of installing APCUPSD or configuring the built in Power Options through the system control panel. Schneider Electric FAQ FA159653 "Configuring Microsoft Vista, Windows 7, 8, & 10, Windows 2008 & 2012 to safely shutdown without using APC's PowerChute software."

honestly, i'd prefere to install official software from S.E. than third parties applications
powerchute application is nowadays antique, dated jenuary 2012(!!), so neither updated and tested
under new operating systems like 8.1 or 10
it's incredible to believe that a company like S.E. don't update a software in about 6 years
maybe powerchute has also a lot of security issues
this is abandoneware
Hope S.E. will update it soon or later fixing at least the bug that even for viewing statistics it need
administrator privileges
regards
massimo

Hi,
PowerChute Personal Edition has been tested and approved to run on Windows 7, 8.1, and 10
I understand your reluctance to running third party software however my second option is included within the Windows OS so there is no download or installation needed. It just needs to be configured. You would be correct to say that the power options do not offer all of the same features as PowerChute however it does offer UPS status and graceful shutdown of the system.

Well, I tried v3.0.2 and it tells me it wants .net 2.0. That version is obsolete and has been superceded by 4.5. Is there another personal edition that's compatible with 4.5? If not, Please fix and inform when it's ready.
thanks

Hi,
Take a look at Artie's post dated 9/6/2016 for information on .NET for Windows 10
