PowerChute Redundant Setup Behaviour
Hi,
I have setup 2x SMT3000 UPSs with Network Management Cards in PowerChute. The UPSs are setup as a redundant configuration protecting a host with redundant power supplies.
In APCs document about a redundant PowerChute configuration it says that as long as one UPS is capable of supporting the entire load and the other eventually turns off, no shutdown of the protected host will be triggered.
But in the same document APC clames that in case the runtime of an UPS is exeeded, a shutdown of the host will be triggered.
My understanding is that runtime exeeded occurs when a UPS has not enough battery time left for PowerChute to shutdown a host + 2 extra minutes -> a UPS has run out of battery.
My question now is: When only one UPS disconnects from mains power (for whatever reason) and eventually runs out of battery but the other one still has normal mains power, will PowerChute trigger a shutdown of the protected host?
