PowerChute Personal for Mac?

Is there a PowerChute Personal edition for Mac? Tomorrow I'll be picking up a J35B, and I want to get all of my ducks in a row so that everything works properly. I was told that Macs come with their own version of PowerChute, but I don't see anything in the System Prefs. Running the latest version of OS X (10.11.2). Any help would be appreciated.

You are certainly welcome. Those old Smart-UPS models seem to go on working just about forever, so long as you throw in new batteries now and then.

If your question is answered, would you be so kind as to mark this question as having been answered or my response as helpful? I'd really appreciate it!

There used to be a version of PowerChute Personal Edition for Macintosh. I don't believe it is developed any longer, and even when it was, the level of functionality offered was extremely basic. It couldn't do many things that the Windows version could (such as disabling the beeper, adjusting high/low transfer voltages or updating the battery replacement date).

Upon connecting the APC uninterruptible power supply to your Macintosh with a USB cable, the computer will detect and automatically configure it. Basic settings can be adjusted from the Energy Saver preferences pane in System Preferences. The options you can set will look very similar to those of a portable Macintosh computer.

Although you probably have the J35B APC UPS by now, a better choice for a computer would be something from the Back-UPS line, such as the BN1080G or BX1300/1500G.

Hmm, I have no idea why some words in this message are being run together (seemingly replaced with nonbreaking spaces) unless my keyboard is being stupid again...

Hello.

Is there a way to test and read home APC UPSes (e.g., Back-UPS ES-750 (BE750G)) in detailed without computers' softwares (PowerChute in Windows and apcupsd)? I was disappointed with Mac OSes don't have fancy APC UPS softwares. 😞

Thank you in advance. 🙂

Hi,

You will need to install APCUPSD on the Mac to see details of the BE750G.
