I've just installed this version on my pc to use it with Back-UPS ES 700. When i try pressing "Technical Data" tab, my pc emits awful sounds as if trying to constantly check disk or floppy drive. Then PowerChute crashes. Seems it is unable to check disk space properly. I've installed it on 2TB drive by the way. Is there any way to fix this?

Hi Zeiss,
Our technical support team receives this kind of issue as well. We were told that on the next update of PCPE this issue will be resolved. Unfortunately, we do not have a timeframe yet on when it will out.

Yeah sorry i've actually found several threads about same issue right after i posted this 😕
Though now i have different issue - tray icon shows exclamation mark and says "Energy usage is not being monitored - APC Data Service is not running". Does this mean that my UPS doesn't support energy usage monitoring? Theres isn't a tab in settings window either, this is how my PowerChute window looks like:

Just did that. Service restarted and exclamation mark is gone. Though tab for "energy usage" didn't appear 😕 I also can't, for some reason, make APC run without prompting me UAC window. I have tried creating new task for "display.exe" and run it with highest privileges, but that didn't work, powerchute still requests permission to run.

h1. this is now fixed!
PCPE version 3.0.0.1 is now available on the web. This is an interim release that is available in English & German and addresses three major concerns.
Fixes in this release:*
•With Windows UAC enabled, when a user logged on to Windows Vista or Windows 7, the UAC dialog always asked the user to approve starting the PowerChute Systray icon. This will no longer happen.
•After un-installing PowerChute, hibernation was not being restored and has been corrected.
• When selecting PowerChute Technical data screen it would be displayed very slowly and sometimes the internal PC fan made a lot of noise (indicating over usage). This has also been addressed.

Hi Zeiss,
Let see what is going on with that APC Data Service. Please open up the Services window of your PC, you can do this by clicking Start and from the Run box type in services.msc and hit enter. If done properly this should open up your services window. Please look for the APC Data Service and see if it is stopped. If it is you can right click on it and choose start.
Just to be sure that it would restart again if a problem occurs, right click on that service and choose Properties. Choose the Recovery Tab and on all kinds of failure please select Restart Service. While on the Reset fail count and restart service, please set it to 0.
