Power trip overloaded power
Hi
It happen on other place equipment cause the whole floor power trip
when my server rack equipment all power up in 1 shot it will cause the power trip happen on the server power socket when the main power source come back. Maybe power overload, have to remove some of the device power and 1 by 1 turn it on then no more trip happen.
In this case, if I added APC UPS will it help to avoid power trip issue cause by power overload? should i divided to 2 UPS for different socket?
Thank you for reaching out to the SE Community, my name is Jon and I will assist you with this query. Apologies for the late revert, splitting the load to another UPS is one great idea but I'd like to check if this is happening as well when you are turning the load even if there was no power outage.
I am also looking at what we call as inrush current of the load. Although the UPS capacity can handle the power that the load draws, during the startup stage, this equipment might have to pull a higher power draw which can last for a few seconds but can cause the unit to go on overload.
APC doe have SmartUPS units that do have controllable outlets, with this feature, you can delay the power on/off of outlet groups which can prevent the inrush current issue.
