Ohio was hit by some storms last night and we lost power at a couple of our facilities. One facility had a Smart-UPS 1000 RM that went into some sort of odd status. Apparently the facility itself had power however the UPS itself sensed a power loss and intervened. The battery supported load for about 30 minutes and then apparently went offline. The facility contacted me and mentioned this. When I asked someone to take a look at the display they mentioned that the battery had blinking lights on it. The load and charge lights were blinking. Has anyone heard of this before? To correct the issue I had the observer power down the UPS device by holding the power off button on the front panel. I had the user hold it down for about 10 seconds. The observer waited approximately 30 second, then powered the UPS back on and it returned to normal operation.
It was almost as if the UPS itself thought the wall socket was off, but the wall socket was not by indication of the troubleshooting actions.

Just to follow up. Winna is correct. It is a temperature overheat situation. The data comm closet needs better ventilation. We have had them remove the ceiling tiles for now to vent the heat to the rafters. This seems to have helped keep the temperature lower.
