Newbie: InRow RD vs InRow RC

I have 9 cabinets (total power consumption 30kW with future projection to 40kW maximum) to cool.

The building where we are in provides condenser water but does not have chilled water supply.
"A condensing water loop will be provided to each office floor for fitout related use
with blanked off connections with valves on each level. Cooling capacity will be sized
at 18W/m2 which includes heat of rejection."

However, building management also says:
"The separate contractor will provide chilled water & heating hot water to satisfy base
building requirements ..."

So, I will need either 4 x InRow RD or 3 x InRow RC.
InRow RC costs less and (@ 1kW) is also cheaper to run than RD (@ 4.4kW)
However, the question is how much I need to pay the contractor for them to provide chilled water.

I thought about putting my own chiller inside the computer room but it seems like it will be huge expense and is not worth it.

Anyone who has similar experience?

Hi,

If you want the use the InRow RD, there are 02 version InRow RD:

The big one is RD 600mm with capacity ~ 25kW (29kW can be archived in special condition).
The small one is RD 300mm with capacity ~ 7kW (9kW can be archived in some condition).
This unit need to buy condenser units.

This is the Cooling Unit with DX version and you will find some where out size to put the condenser unit (not the chiller).
You contractor should install the pipe line, charge the gas R410a (300mm type) or R407 (600mm type), provide cable and electrical panel...
With my country, the cost ~ 2-3K for installation but some site you can't find some where to put condenser.
------------------------

InRow RC just a fan coil unit. It's need the chiller supply the cold water in and remove the heat via water. So it's cheaper in case you have big system with chiller existing. With 30kW capacity, you need to buy a mini chiller system with the cost ~ 13K - 16K and extral cost for installation pipe line, water pump, valve system ...

Hi Blue Tongue,

Sorry for the long wait. I was trying to get some more info on this for you but unfortunately it looks like you may need to call into sales and have them set up to have someone from our Config Team to call you and go over all the specs. Once they are sure what would and what wouldn't work for your setup then they can give you some cost comparisons and the benefits of one solution over the other. The number for sales is (800) 890-4272 and you will want option 2 or sales and then option 3 for the team that can help you out. Sorry again for the long wait but they will be able to make sure you get what you need.

From reading the APC website, I am really interested to purchase InRow unit but without professinoal advice, I would be hesitant.
Can someone from APC respond to my questions please?
Thanks.
