Hi All,
I seem to be having problems monitoring my 3 APC Smart UPS 6000XL units using any kind of management software. I have set the software up on two different servers now and have ping monitors on over 100 devices that all respond normally. However when I add the UPS units they keep coming back as not responding and when I run pings to the units from a command prompt I get no reply. Is there a known bug with the management cards on these units? As it stands it is impossible to add them to the monitoring systems as it says they are down every few minutes! It seems that others have experienced this but found no solution. Does anyone know how to sort this? Are there settings I need to change on the UPS?

Thanks! And the "management software" - are we talking SNMP? If so, v1 or v3? v1 is only on by default. But that does not explain why the ping is not working properly.
Also, If you can web and Telnet, that's fine. SSH replaces telnet so if telnet worked, SSH is disabled.
I'd want to compare the IP/subnet mask/gateway for typos in those settings or anything else that could potentially cause a problem. But, if web and telnet work, then I think it is not likely but perhaps are these devices on their own VLAN or subnet? Just trying to narrow things down that are similar among these devices and then the devices you have that are working.

Can you tell me what model of UPS Network Management Card is installed in these three UPSs? It is likely AP9631 or AP9619.
I'd also like to see the log files (event.txt, data.txt, config.ini) from at least 1-2 of them to review and that will likely help. (Instructions here -> How can I download Event, Data, Configuration, and Debug files from my Network Management Card? | FA...
Are you able to successfully able to Web, Telnet, SSH, etc to these Network Management Cards? Are there other APC devices that respond successfully or are the other 100 devices other vendor's devices?

Hi Angela,
Thank you for responding - sorry my reply is late I thought I would get an email alert when someone responded. My Network Management cards are indeed AP9619. I am able to Web and Telnet (haven't tested SSH yet) - the over devices I have are all from other vendors. I'll get you those logs.
Regards
Rob
