Need some help on my new APC Smart-UPS SRT 10kVA?
Hello,
We just recently purchased and installed a APC Smart-UPS SRT 10kVA to replace our existing UPS.
We also got two step-down transformers (AP9626 - APC Step-Down Transformer RM 2U 208V IN 120V OUT; w/5-20 Receptacles).
I am no UPS expert my any means so hopefully someone out there can answer some of my questions..
Can the hard wire output be switched on/off through the management interface? I see there is controls to do it for the groups, but nothing there for the hard wire output. We need to wire that up down the road; but we don't want to shut off the UPS as it will have production workload on it. I am also trying to avoid having the electrician wire the output live.
The two step-down transformers have an input rating of 30A, looking at the back of the Smart-UPS we have Group 3 that is rated at 30A; where as Group 1 and Group 2 are rated at 20A. So I was going to plug those into the 30A group (both step-down transformers).
Is there an issue with having both on the same group? Any benefit separating them out between groups?
Most of our servers are dual PSU; so plugging each PSU in different step-down transformer to get redundancy if one of them fails - if both step-down transformers in the same group on the Smart-UPS is this creating a problem? Is there a best practice around this?
When it says "Group 1 - 20 AMP MAX" that means the two outlets in that group cannot draw more than 20 AMP total or is it per outlet in the group?
