Regularly we get on ou system (Smart-UPS VT 20 kVA) the error massage: "An input voltage or frequency problem prevents switching to bypass mode". (see below: part of the log file)
04.07.2009 17:04:40 UPS: An input voltage or frequency problem no longer prevents switching to bypass mode.
04.07.2009 17:04:25 UPS: No longer on battery power.
04.07.2009 17:04:20 UPS: An input voltage or frequency problem prevents switching to bypass mode.
04.07.2009 16:24:48 UPS: An input voltage or frequency problem no longer prevents switching to bypass mode.
04.07.2009 16:24:33 UPS: No longer on battery power.
04.07.2009 16:24:28 UPS: An input voltage or frequency problem prevents switching to bypass mode.
Questions:
- how serious is this problem?
- what is or can be the reason for it?
- what can be done to solve it?
Thank you for your help
Rolf

Can you post the data logs from the unit, if possible?
These messages are typically created when the input power to the unit is outside of it's acceptable bypass range. This can be due to high/low voltage or frequency. The unit will no longer want to transfer to bypass in fear of damaging the load, and instead a bypass transfer will result in an instant load drop. It can be very serious, depending on how critical it is that your load is up.
To solve it, you would need to address the input issues with your power company, and/or facilities manager.
