KVA Sensors in AP7853 rails, but not AP8853 or AP8881 ?

We have AP7853, AP8853 and AP8881 power rails in our HACS, which has grown over time.  Recently we have hooked all our infrastructure up to Struxureware DCE, which is v7.2.4 to improve our monitoring and alerting capability.

While attempting to create a set of reports, I have found that only the AP7853 rails show up as having a VA sensor and none of them has a KVA one.  Since all the information from our UPS is in KVA and since discussions around UPS capacity with the building managers are always around KVA, it would be much more convenient to be able to generate reports and graphs directly in KVA.

Should the newer and more dense rails be displaying a VA sensor ?

I am not sure if this is a Struxureware question, or a hardware components question, but I'll start here...

Hi,

AP7XXX series and AP8XXX series PDUs provide different sensor values since they are different hardware types and capable of measuring/reporting different things.

Can you provide a screenshot/reference of what you're looking at? I have a feeling you may be able to customize what is reported on some level if the different PDUs don't provide it natively. I am not an expert on DCE but if I can get more information, someone on here who knows more about it may be able to comment and suggest something.

The sensors available on a particular device in DCE are dependent upon its Device Definition File (DDF).  DDFs vary by device and firmware.  The main question is VA or KVA an available snmp oid on the rack pdu.  If it is, schneider electric can update the DDF to include this sensor (assuming it isn't available already) or you can add it as a supplemental oid and that sensor will be added to any device that responds to that oid.  Be aware that supplemental oids have limited formatting options and do not include options for scaling (eg the oid is reported in tenths, 7.0 kva would show up as 70kva in DCE.

In order to make sure you have the latesst DDFs, ensure that your Struxureware DCE server and rack pdus are updated to their latest versions.
