Hi everyone,

It is accurate that APC will NOT cover under contract units which are 10 years old?

I have these and I'm told they are no longer eligible for coverage under APC service contract?

Hi,

The Smart-UPS line has a maximum of 6 years of warranty. Any extended warranty must be purchased while the standard factory warranty is in effect. As an example for your units the standard warranty was 2 years and you could have purchase an additional 1 and 3 year warranty bring the units to the maximum of 6 years.

I'm even more confused; I was able to purchase extended contracts from APC twice -- each time for 3 years? I'm happy to share the PDF scan via PM. Has the policy changed lately? And what is the current credible and enforced extended warranty policy of APC?

I am asking because a vendor just quoted a THIRD extension of the warranty contract for 3 more years.

Hi,

The policy has not changed. It has been 6 years for Smart-UPS for the 14 years I have worked here. The issue is enforcement. People sell extended warranties even though they should not.

Thanks Bill -- I don't mean to be a devil's advocate but I do need to ask:

So if I get someone to sell me a contract -- be it a partner or reseller -- do I take it correctly that APC WILL HONOUR it?

I bought one from a 3rd party that had bought it in error, it was activated without issue. Of course I had read on APC's site about warranty extension and knew the maximum was 6 years from original purchase so my 3 year warranty was extended to 6.
