Geneforce Generator and SUA1000
Hi. We have an SUA1000 plugged into a Geneforce GEN-525.

1) Seems to be working fine when utility AC is flowing through the generator, which, I have been told, has a built in AVR.
2) When the generator goes to "invert" status (non-utility), the AVR trim went haywire (on and off constantly for a matter of minutes until I powered everything down). I also received "site wiring fault" messages. I am pretty certain that the wiring is not an issue due to 1) above.
I have purchased a Line-R that I was considering putting in between the generator and the SUA1000. Any thoughts?
The power draw to our server/rack/drives is approx 500 watts.
Thanks.

a Smart UPS already does what a line R does (voltage regulation) so i dont think that it will help you at all.
it sounds like the voltage was either really high or really low coming from the generator or who knows what else. with the site wiring fault, as you may know, its indicating a missing or loose ground, overloaded neutral, or reversed polarity. maybe this is related to an overloaded neutral or the missing or loose ground from the generator input?
you could try lowering the sensitivity on the UPS if you wanted via the LED on the back of the UPS to see if that helps but other than that, there is not much else you can do besides fixing things on the generator end (or trying to figure out what it is).
