I have a SmartUps 3000, and it's been running perfectly for some time.
However, over the weekend it has shut down, and is not providing any power to external devices, and the fault LED is blinking.
LED number 2 and 3 (those that show how full the batteries are) also blinking when the fault LED is blinking.
Checking the manual I find:
FAULT LED ILLUMNATES:
Do not attempt to use the UPS. Turn the UPS off and have it services immediately.
I am wondering, can anyone tell me what I should expect is wrong with it? I'm wondering if I even should bother to have it check, or just have it replaced?

No, I have no similar UPS. I guess I'll just have it replaced.

Hello - can you clarify when you say LED number 2 and 3, is that counted from the top or bottom?
Or, can you show it to me by using 0's and 1's? For example, is it
0
1
1
0
0
or
0
0
1
1
0
?
Typically, this is something that requires repair or replacement because if the UPS could've recovered from it, it would've done it but it does not hurt to check and see what it is, in case it could be battery or even load related.

Thank you. This indicates Battery Capacitor Soft Start Fault.
How old are the batteries? If they are original, I can work off of the UPS serial number if you can provide it to see the age. In the meantime, I will double check to see if the cause of this can be battery related and/or UPS related. If it were me and you have access to PowerChute Business Edition or a UPS Network Management Card that is powered up (even though the UPS won't output power), we could also review event and data logs to check the battery bus voltage and any other events that were logged.

I'm not sure how old the batteries are, but I would guess it's still the orginal batteries. At this moment I don't have access to PowerChute Buisness Edition, nor do I have access to any UPS network management card that's powered up... but I will check it.
The serial of the UPS is: NS0828007763

You don't have a similar UPS that you can try batteries from in this one, do you? This could be batteries or the unit and it is really tough to say with 100% certainty which. The unit is from mid 2008 so the batteries would be about 5 years old now and likely close to needing replacement.
