This post is a few months old. As such, I did not get the battery date codes. I went to Batteries and Bulbs and had two new batteries installed, as well as another new fuse. They re-installed the styrofoam spacer, as well. When I wrote the manual for the J15, I was unaware they were putting these spacers in the battery compartment, thus I don't know if they are supposed to be removed, or not. The battery compartment can hold up to 4 batteries, and I believe, was designed to do so - as such it would double the runtime. The unit is powered on 24/7. and as such, is always at a full charge. I haven't had any problems with it since the new batteries and fuse were installed.

Were you able to find the date code on the batteries?
RE: ( big styrofoam spacer ) wonder if that just for shipping reasons?
