Hello, I am new in the APC UPS business. I buyed a APC UPS ES 700G-GR in germany. It seems to work well but I have some problems with the PowerChute Personal Edition 3.0 Software (Win 7 Prof. 64 bit).
Together with my normal Desktop PC the 'Estimated Battery Time' is shown as 40min - independent of the load I put on the outlets. First I started with an additional electric bulb (100W). The result 40 minutes. Then I connect some kind of kitchen aid with 300W. The display remains at 40 minutes.
I don't understand it!
Can you help me please!
Greetings and Thanks für your answers!

The estimated battery time is just an approximate value that your UPS has computed, the exact runtime can be determined once the UPS rans on battery. Your configuration is correct, once the available runtime is only 8 minutes the computer would then shutdown/hibernate.

Now i have made a hot test with my PC:
Before the test, PowerChute displays 40 minutes 'Estimated Battery Time';
I programmed 8 minutes left time when system shuts down;
Than i plug off the power cable from the wall outlet;
the PC works properly....:-));
PowerChute displays 7 minutes to shutdown (I think it should be 40 - 8 = 32 minutes);
After about 7 minutes the shutdown was automatically activated;
Then, after loading the battery again to 100%, the 'Estimated Battery Time' shows 32 minutes;
Has anyone an answer?
Greetings Axel

I have to make a additional remark:
After I restarted my PC and the APC-Unit the Estimated Battery Time is displayed as 32 minutes. But also it never change, when I connect an additional load on the outlets. It's constantly, non varying on 32 minutes.
No error occured! The unit (PowerChute) says: "Your battery backup is operating normally"
Once more: Greetings and thanks for the answers!

To start with, make sure that the loads are on the battery side outlet. While all of the load are attached to the UP, unplug the unit from the wall outlet.

To be sure, I have made a test. I plug off the wall outlet and the load (not the PC) continue running. The APC-Unit works properly.It beeps every 30seconds correctly.
After restarting the PC, PowerChute says, that the battery is 93% full (because of the test) and 23 minutes "Estimated Battery Time". System Tray says: ......battery backup charging. So everything seems to be ok. ...I don't understand it.
Once more: Greetings and many thanks!

Can you post a screenshot of how your PCPE is configured to shutdown? I wanted to make sure that it is done correctly.

Hello,
I think, these are the screens, you want to see? If you need more, please let me know.
The performance-screen shows the power breakdown caused by my testing. It takes about 10minutes. Together with the configured remaining time I supposed the 'Estimated Battery Time' for about 18 minutes - but not 36 minutes.
It's a mystery to me.
I'm quite sure, that I've configured the PCPE correctly.
Thanks for helping, Axel
