My Back-UPS ES 750 recently went bad (constant tone, no light, replacement battery is only a couple months old). I was looking at exchanging it through the Trade-UPS program.
I wanted to get a Smart-UPS to replace it, but I can't tell the difference between the US and non-US models. For example the SMT750US costs almost $50 more than the SMT750, but looking at the Technical Specs, they seem to be identical. Similarly there's $130 difference between the 1000VA models.
Surely for the price difference there is something more than just two letters added to the model name. I'm just having trouble figuring out what it is.

The difference with the US models is where the UPS' is manufactured as some companies/government agencies are required to purchase UPS' made in the United States.

That's an interesting data point. The price differential, then, must be related to the cost of labor and parts acquisition.
