Dealing with overvoltage / UPS Power Settings
At one of our sites, we have voltage that's coming in from the utility a bit higher than one might hope. This is a utility in a rural area and I don't think we'll be able to solve the issue at the "source".
A couple of our UPSes at this site (Smart-UPS 750/1000 120V) are showing the input voltage floating right around 125 but occasionally hitting 128.
Currently using the default power settings on these UPSes where the Output Upper Limit is set to 127. What I'm seeing: when the input voltage goes to 127-128 - and the UPS compensates for it - the output voltage drops down to ~110.
I believe this is hapening because the UPS is using its autotransformer and that only has so many output settings, so you won't get exactly 120V and I get that.
From a raw numbers standpoint, it seems like the AVR is actually getting the power further out of tolerance (10V lower vs. ~7V higher).
Based on that, thinking I should just increase the upper limit in the Power Settings to something in the 129-130 range. Is this solid logic or am I missing something?
Output voltage aside, are there any issues with switching in/out of AVR mode frequently (i.e. 1-2 times a day)?
