I have 4 of the DL3000RM3U units. Each of them are connected to an 8-port extender so that each one can control multiple servers.
I have to believe that APC makes a small rack mount device that would allow me to manage and maintain all of the separate UPS from one console? Used is just fine too.

Powerchute business edition deluxe allows monitoring of 25 agents per Business Edition Server installation. That is purchasable software. The basic version only allows 5 per server installation.
isx manager has been discontinued recently but apparently that could monitor devices as well even though they are SNMP agents.

What are agents? Are those the servers attached to the UPSs? I planned to install 8 way expansions on each UPS so that I could control 4x8 servers cleaning shutting off when required.
But I need to monitor the UPSs themselves of course.

powerchute business edition consists of three components - the agent, the server, and the console.
The agent runs as a background service on each server with a data connection to the UPS. Please note that only these servers will shut down. The role of the Agent is to monitor the UPS and initiate a shutdown based upon configurable UPS events. The role of the Server is to provide centralized monitoring and control of numerous PCBE Agents. The role of the Console is to provide a remote graphical interface for any and all PCBE server modules on the network. The freeware version of PCBE can accommodate 5 Agents per Server installation. Second versions of PCBE (May be purchased) can accommodate 25 Agents per Server installation. The server and console run only on Windows platforms, but each agent has a web user interface, which can be used for non-Windows environments.
there is one advanced port on the interface expander that you can use to monitor and control the UPS. you install the agent portion on that computer in smart signaling mode. the rest of the agents, which you will install on the other machines that are connected on the basic port, only install the agent in simple signaling for interface expander mode so that they know when to shutdown and that is all.
the server is only installed one a couple of machines which monitor all of those agents. then you can have a couple consoles to view all the agents in one window.
with communication issues, we need to make sure everything is using the right cables and communication modes.
hope this helps.

It might make more sense to end this thread by pointing to the other one now :).
Basically, I don't have a need to shut down machines after all, that's the point behind the generator. So what I do have a need for is to constantly monitor the individual Smart-UPS units which I am going to use in place of one large Powerware unit.
It's not much of a problem to run powerchute on different servers connected to each UPS but it sure would be nice to have a central point to view all of the UPS so that I don't have to connect to each server connected to one.
So, best would be a web app that ties all of the UPS together so that I can simply get a one page view of each for status.
Second best would be an app (does powerchute do this?) which allows me to switch between each UPS, which is actually connected to other servers.
Least best but easy to do, to simply log into each server and view the UPS from that server.
So, I'll have four Smart-UPS 3000 units to monitor. Is there a device which allows them to be connected into and a single point of view?
