Cant decide between AP9630 or AP9631 for smt3000rmi2uc

I have a smt3000rmi2uc without a NMC, so have been looking at the different NMC that are compatible like AP9630, AP9631, AP9640, AP9641. But i dont know which one would be the best,
i would like the NMC to be easily configured via dhcp (via ethernet), have the least amount of configuration problems to solve, be cost effective, similar in setup and functionality to the AP9619 and AP9617 as i have configured them the most.
I am leaning towards AP9630, but what would you guys recommend?
Thank you

Both the AP9630 / 9631 (NMC 2) are EOL and no longer have active support. Both are the same except the AP9631 offers two RJ45 ports to install various sensors from temp, temp / humidity, dry contact, water, open / close etc.

If you don’t need any future I/O sensors the best value is the AP9630 as they are dirt cheap on the used market.

The AP9640 / 9641 are the latest NMC 3 which have both active development and technical support.

They obviously cost way more than the last generation of NMC 2 cards on the used market!

Both cards are identical to the NMC 2. But offer 1GB network interface. A more powerful CPU to allow higher strength encryption cyphers now and the future.

The hardware now uses a Micro USB for Serial connection and incorporates a replaceable coin cell vs the fixed tac welded cell.

You may use any of the three NMC firmware branch. The 2.5.X which is free or the 3.2.X Secure NMC Subscription Firmware.

The last one is from the NMC 2 which is v7.1.6 firmware.

@Teken

please give a link to 7.1. 6
I've been looking for it for over a month. but only pdf.

I need sumx/Smart-UPS.

@trouble

9631 - more parts are soldered, but it's usually cheaper than 9630.
Although NMC2 - these are two problems,

a soldered battery, and a spacer under the battery, which often leaks.

I used more than 50-100 NMC2, and more 100-200 NMC1.

As others have said there is not much difference between the APxxx0 and APxxx1 models except the APxxx1 versions offer external sensors like temp and such. If you don't need the external sensors then there is no reason to get the APxxx1 version.

That said the APxx40 and APxx41 although identical other than the external sensors options is the better way to go. APC is or had ended support for the AP963x line. And the AP964x line will offer firmware upgrades and the like.

As for confirmation the are not hard from hyperterminal or putty you enter topic -i <your ip address> -s <your subnet mask> -g <your gateway> -how <your host name> -d <your domain>

From there you have given your device a ipaddres and hostname you can use to connect over the web to set up anything else you like. Like DNS email or whatever.
