Cannot add host to Host Protection UPS (PowerChute)

Dear community,

I can see all hosts under PCNS -> Host Protection on the left side under my Data Center but I can not move it to the right side to match with the correct UPS.

I attached a screenshot - the hosts on the left side are greyed out and I can not drag and drop them.

We have 2 UPS and 3 Hosts

The main host (running PCNS and vCenter) is matched with the correct UPS, but I would like to match the the other hosts with the second UPS shown.

Am I missing something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PCNS 4.4.3 and vCenter/ESXI 7

@hmi

Are you seeing a Red X when you drag the host to the UPS? If so that indicates you are attempting to add the host to the UPS, and you need to add the host to an outlet group.

If the hosts are grayed out that indicates the host has been added to a UPS or outlet group. You will find the lists of assigned host in the pcnsconfig.ini file.

Examples

[advanced_ups_setup_0]
setup_name = SMT1500

hostlist = 192.168.0.141&1

[advanced_ups_setup_1]
setup_name = SMTL1000

hostlist = 192.168.0.176&1|192.168.0.144&1|192.168.0.128&1

Thank you for the quick reply @BillP.

There is no red X, it's grayed out and there is just that forbidden icon (black crossed circle).

I checked the ini and I can see the following

hostlist = host1.domain.com|host2.domain.com

I noticed you have the '&1' in there. Is that mandatory?

I didn't edit the config manually before, so that is what the wizard put in there.

@hmi

Try clearing the browser data, and then log in to the PowerChute UI. If the UI still does not display the hosts in the list, log out of the UI. Then log in to the PowerChute VM and stop the PowerChute service; the command is systemctl stop PowerChute. Next, edit the pcnsconfig.ini and remove the hosts from the list hostlist = host1.domain.com|host2.domain.com. Next, restart the PowerChute service (systemctl start PowerChute) and log in to the PowerChute UI. You should see the hosts available to add to the list.

To answer the question about the &number, that will be inserted if the associated UPS has switched outlet groups. In my example, I had each host associated with a UPS with outlet groups, and each was associated with group 1.
