As above - ive ordered a battery and replaced the internal battery (the Pair) in the main unit. However im still getting the above error - is there somewhere on the web interface where i can clear the error/or tell the ups that a new battery has been installed. Oh the model is a Smart-UPS SRT 6000
Thanks to anyone that helps!
Andy

In the ideal situation when a new battery cartridge is installed the UPS should prompt you to confirm a new unit is in place. It will prompt you to confirm if this is a new cartridge and then give you the option to enter a new replacement month / year.
Given, this rarely happens in the field you can do one of several things. Keeping in mind you should always wait 8-24 hours to allow the new cartridge to be fully charged prior to doing any of the following.
1. Remove the cartridge and unplug the connector. Wait for the unit to beep than insert the battery connector and see if the UPS prompts you to affirm a new cartridge is in place. If that fails you can follow step two below.
2. Initiate a self test either through the front panel or via the NMC Smart Slot (Web Console). This is found by selecting *Test* -> UPS Self Test in the NMC web console. This same can be done through the front panel by selecting Test & Diagnostic (or similar wording) and selecting self test.
3. The battery installation date can be changed within the NMC web console by navigating to *Configuration* -> UPS -> scroll down to *Last Battery Replacement*. Enter the month and year for the battery replacement.

Hi - thanks very much for the reply....so first and foremost....that message - ive assumed thats the battery pack thats in the main unit....? (ive got 2 boxes....the one with the display in it [the battery that ive replaced] and, the secondary unit consisting of just batteries )
So these are my questions (probably simple to answer!)
1. As the battery packs are all identical (the pair in the main unit and the 2 pairs in the secondary unit. Which battery is it referring to...? i take it the message points to the one/pair in the primary unit?
2. I did do the above and unplug the battery (in its present positon) and then plug it back in again but the interface didnt prompt me to affirm the new cartridge is in place...so does that mean its not the right battery ive replaced?

Ok - As i wasnt sure of when you were going to reply ive removed the right hand battery set in the secondary box...the right hand one as the cover had "RBC1>" on it....ive put the new set in there and then ran option2 (UPS self test) - on refreshing the webpage the alarm has now gone, so ill keep an eye on it and see if it re-appears!
Moving on to 3. In that menu i dont have the option to specify the battery addition...?

That's interesting APC changed the NMC console (omitting) the ability to enter the battery install date?!?! Regardless, you can try to resolve this by disconnecting the new battery pack.
Wait for the UPS to display a battery fault on the LCD - Wait 20 seconds for that fault to be displayed. After 20 seconds has passed reinsert the battery pack and connect the cable. The UPS should at this time prompt you to confirm this is a new battery cartridge and give you the opportunity to enter the month and year of the battery install.

For older models it is under configuration > UPS. On newer models it is under Status > Battery system > Internal pack.
Also if you change batteries at all you should change all of them. in different packs or not they are wired as one large pack. degraded/bad batteries will pull the rest down faster causing shorter life

Hi there - thanks very much for the information....so ive got the newer one...(found the setting)... with regards to changing all of the battery packs at the same time....that could prove to be very expensive as the due date for the failed battery was May 2026! so if im having to replace a full set every 3 years instead of 5 or more...not sure my boss would wear that! 🙂
Thanks very much for the help so far.!

Configuration -> Security -> Local User -> Default Settings -> Session Timeout.
As it relates to your original problem it would be great if you indicated the path you took to find how to update the battery information. Calling out the NMC / UPS firmware level as this will help the next person asking the same.

Teken is correct on the place for the time out.
As for changing the batteries. Batteries even lithium ones have an average life span of 3 to 5 years. Does that mean you have to replace them at 3 or 5 years? No you can replace them as they report bad. I have some that have lasted 10 years.
But the issue is that when you do replace batteries in a particular device you need to change all of them or you will have repeated issues as the bad battery will drag down and shorten the life of the other batteries connected to it. So if you only replace one the other batteries are weaker and will drag the new one down shortening its lifespan. its really your call though.
