The battery and transformer have been running so hot that the bottom of the plastic case has started to bulge beneath the battery.
This device has been running for just under a year and supplies a PC, two monitors and a wifi router (16%). There haven't been any power outages during that period.
I have another identical device powering a similar load (22%) which runs quite warm to the touch but not hot.
The vents on both units are clean.
Any advice appreciated.

I would suggest you check the purchase receipt as to when this hardware was bought.
As the hardware offers a three year warranty.
Based only on the serial number provided here you missed that warranty coverage by 4 days. ☹️

This is ONLY based on your serial number so if your receipt indicates a later purchase date.
Please engage APC Technical Support to initiate a RMA.
