Anybody using or used APC PDU before? Amp meter displays zero

Hi, I am newbie at this, I purchased a ap7900, I plugged in electronics and computer to it, but the amp meter always display zero, I pressed and hold the black button for 5 seconds, it cycles through some meaningless numbers and then go back to zero again.

do i need to run some script to it or did i receive a lemon?

Hey, thanks and you are right, desktop laptops routers do not draw large current I am so dumb.
I was testing it and was only plugging in electronics while they are in idle state, never really test them under heavy working condition.
so I decide to plug in a laserjet and print a page and the amp meter shows 3 amps immediately.

Thanks again i got it now.

"a desktop computer, routers, and laptop" is not a big load in terms of Amps.
Do you have more large load to connect?

Hello, sf1
Could you check the following:
1) Status LED
2) If the PDU is properly configured ( for eg you can get access to online menu via web-browser)
http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/ASTE-6Z6KAM_R0_EN.pdf
3) Try to add more load ( for eg current should be more then 3 Amps)
I would assume that the load is too small to read it from the display

What will be the results?

when you log into the PDU, does it tell you how many amps the PDU is providing in there? it should be on the main (home) screen when you log in with a little colored bar that is green, yellow, or red. it will also give you details under the device manager section. (this is assuming that it is the newer firmware which I think is a safe assumption i think).

The current version would be under Administration - General - About. It's probably 3.x, with the light blue background screen.

However, the new revision is here:

http://www.apcc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SFRPDU358

The firmware probably won't have a change on the display registering a load however.
