Hello,
The UPS is just in Q3 maintenance bypass and it is not a faulty, you need to turn off the mechanical bypass lever at the front of the UPS that connected to the internal bypass switch as the UPS back terminal board ,if an external bypass panel connected, you need to follow the operation manual and turn off Q3 so the unit can protect the load through inverter
Smart-UPS VT-Galaxy 3500; UPS won’t run a self-test or run on battery if Q3 (or Q7 Internal mechanical bypass switch) is closed. This is perfectly normal behavior as the Smart-UPS VT-Galaxy 3500 UPS products do not monitor the status of the output switch Q2 (if there is one). Therefore, The UPS cannot run on battery as the firmware would assume it may back feed the AC mains thru the closed Q3 or Q7 bypass switches. Only parallel installations of SUVT-G3500 where there is a MBP CAN boards that monitor the output switches in the MBP panel will allow on battery test while Q3 is closed.
All single UPS installations with or without MBP will not allow on battery operation if they sense the Q3 or Q7 switches closed/on.
Open Q3 Maintenance Bypass Switch (or Internal Mechanical Bypass Switch Q7) to run the battery test
Test Method: If load must be on Q3 then another way to test the UPS on battery (no load) would be to jumper the J106 pins 5-6, this will force the UPS to see Q3 as open/off, then run the battery test. Alternately at the MBP panel wires 7-8 can be shorted to cause the UPS to read the Q3 as open. WARNING this test method can only be used when there is in fact a Q2 output switch present and set to open/off position. Otherwise, back feed of AC mains will be possible. For all UPS systems without MBP panel it is not possible to test the UPS on battery while the internal mechanical bypass switch is close/on.
Regards,
Karim
