APC SURT 3000XL PCSS Connection and Battery Issue

Now I have 2 issues with the SURT3000,  Could you please advise where should I start with?

1. PowerChute issue

Communication lost and Unknown Device > Reinstalled PCSS > Auto detect port didn't work, tested with different computers.

2. Battery lights flashing

All 5 LEDs are flashing in same time.

Please review this APC FAQ and identify which of the three scenarios best match the condition and your environment:

Thank you, Teken.

I'm also having a Powerchute connection issue right now. Is there a way that I can fix this low battery issue without the application? Or should I do a brain dead restart first? Will the restart cut all power in the same time?

How old is the RBC inside the unit and when was it installed?!? Please show me the production sticker from the RBC (Replacement Battery Cartridge) as there will be a sticker on the front.

If the RBC was simply rebuilt show me one of the cells where the production sticker is affixed / stamped.

The average service life is 2-5 years based on usage, temperature, and environmental conditions. If the RBC falls within this range it’s more likely it needs to be replaced / rebuilt.

In the interim remove the RBC and measure the surface voltage, document, and report here. Allow the RBC to remain disconnected and sit for 72 hours and measure, document, and report back the resting voltage.

A healthy battery cell after losing the initial surface charge will lose no less than 0.1 - 0.2 VDC. If you observe 1.XX - 2.XX VDC document, and report back the final voltage after 72 hours.

The above is the most basic test which isn’t very accurate vs completing a load test and having the ability to measure each cells internal resistance and compared to the manufacturers spec sheet.

Please complete the test and report back the results. As for PCSS if you have another computer system I would try installing the same and report back the results.

Brain Dead: This procedure will attempt to clear any soft errors / faults which also requires the unit to be powered down.

PCSS / PCBE: Ensure your using the supplied APC USB cable. If you’re please replace it with a known USB (Data) cable and not just power.

Use a different USB port on the computer to rule out a bad / failing port. Do not use any sort of USB Hub.

Lastly, disable all power save / energy management on the operating system especially the USB ports.
