Hello Everyone, I am very confused, The Smart connect works great with the ethernet, but I am unable to connect the APC with the USB to RJ45 cable ( serial ) to my computer, I have been in to the menu system turned off smart connect etc and now really do not have clue, the manual has nothing helpful unless you want smart connect and that is it!! I have other APC's in total six up to the SURT3000XL down to SC620, so any help would be really helpful, thank you,

Sorry but I have to cover the basics
You should be connecting that RJ45 to the serial port on the back of the UPS. Then you will connect the other end to the computer.
After that you will need the powerchute software

Hi, thanks for the reply, yes the RJ45 is connected to the serial, not the smart connect for, I've tried powerchute personal and business, with no luck, my other APC's all connect fine.

When you connect the USB to the PC have you tried updating the drivers? for the USB connector. open the Properties window of the USB device look for Update Driver. and see if it finds any new drivers.
