In the Past 6 Months that I've owned the product, the following situation has occurred twice.
I have this UPS at my desk. I will go over to my desk to find that all of my devices that are plugged into the UPS do not have power. When I look at the front of the UPS, the green power light is on. Normally when you tap the green power light once, the LCD display will illuminate and display information. But when I tap the power button, the LCD display will not respond and will stay dark. I try tapping the other two buttons on the front display which will also normally prompt a response for the LCD display, nothing happens. I try holding down the power button and again nothing happens. Normally this would tell the UPS to turn off and should have the green LED power button go dark.
To Summarize, the UPS unit is completely unresponsive and not providing power to any of the devices even though the green LED power button is still illuminated.
In order to get this UPS back to a state where it is working and providing power I have to perform the following steps.
Unplug the UPS unit from the AC wall outlet.
Access the battery on the unit and disconnect one of the connectors (Red or black) to break the electrical circuit provided by the battery. Thus making the unit completely disconnected from any power sources.
Re-connect the battery.
Plug the power cord for the UPS back into the AC wall outlet.
Push the power button once
I have also investigated and tried to find any information on what could cause this activity in the Powerchute software / logs. I have not found any information in the logs or events that relate to this activity. In fact, this activity does not even count against the blackout / battery switch events.
I do not know what could be causing this activity or if I just have a faulty unit. Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
