I've successfully updated several 9630/31 NMC2's from 6.5.0/6.5.0/1.08 to 7.1.2/7.1.2/1.0.9 using the FTP interface into /upsfw (bootmon, then aos, then sumx .BIN files). Each of these on SMT750's.
However, trying to continue the process on other SMT750's (and similar vintage boxes) has been a complete flop!
The bootmon file magically renames itself as a .IMG.
The aos file aborts the transfer prematurely (90+%) despite multiple attempts.
Is there some intermediate step that needs to be performed? I have tried searching for the 6.5.0 files thinking that getting the boxes to that rev level might yield the same, successful results for the previous boxes -- but they seem to be gone.

Have you tried to upgrade the NMC firmware using the software Wizard instead?!? 🤔
You can reach out to APC Technical Support to obtain the 6.XX firmware branch if available. 👍
Please do share a link or resource if the 6.XX firmware is made available to you. As I’m sure this will help someone else in the future. 🤟

Thanks for your suggestion -- but I've recommended to Management that we simply scrap the APC units (about 40 of them). We'll pull the batteries (lead is considered hazardous waste, here) and discard the rest (via a local materials recycling firm).
It just wasn't worth the time (cost -- my time is VERY expensive!) waiting for a solution when we had other options available to us.
