AP9606 Application problem

Hi All,

I realist this is an old card, but I've inherited this and would like to get it back working. I can telnet to it. But SNMP/WEB and Device manager are not working. My investigations reveal that the issue 'Indicates that the application is not compatible with the AOS.' due to the 'Status : P+ N+ A!' error.
I found this here, http://www.rric.net/apc/990-6043A.pdf

I have uploaded a few variations of AOS and the MS firmware but cannot get it working. this is where i am currently. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

(See attached)

Much obliged

Stephen

Ok, downloaded the APP (ms220.bin) using FTp this time. Binary mode, and much like previous attempts for the first 2-3 reloads i could get some web/device access. but after a couple of mins, i am back to square one. This is the output i managed to get from the device manager. (see attached)

Any Help?

ftp://ftp.apc.com/apc/public/hardware/mswitch/firmware/ms/v220/

grab the AOS and ms .bin files from this link.

then follow the manual FTP upgrade procedure here for AP9606: http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/768

hope that helps. let me know how you make out

Thank Pal, much appreciated.

I had to upload using TFTP as the FTP option is not available due to missing applications, because the ms220 file would not stay on the card. And the unit is not local to me so i could not use console.

The result is the same, with the following output

American Power Conversion Web/SNMP Management Card AOS v3.0.3
(c) Copyright 2000 All Rights Reserved MasterSwitch APP v2.2.0

what firmware file did you download along with 3.0.3?

we are going to have to match it up to what it wants and then flash the right version on there. let me know which steps and files you took and that may help us. it may take some tinkering but we should get it to work.

Really appreciate the help. As well as aos303, i uploaded ms220.bin. Thats the file that wont take. I think they are the only bin files in that FTP directory.

can you tell me where you got the files from?

i ask because you said: *I have uploaded a few variations of AOS and the MS firmware but cannot
get it working. this is where i am currently. Can anyone point me in the
right direction?*

basically, we need to find out which APP that AOS 3.0.3 is looking for so that we can maybe upload that and then flash it to what we want. my first idea was uploading the AOS that the ms220.bin app was looking for but that did not work as you said.

yup they should. so i guess i overlooked that fact LOL - i apologize

what is the model of masterswitch that you have, just confirm its a masterswitch vs. masterswitch plus (which uses a different APP)

also, i assume you are upgrading via TFTP (or FTP if it worked) in binary mode?

hmm. perhaps there is something physically wrong here but i am not sure what would cause this.

we know the right firmware is on it. is the NMC able to be reseated in the masterswitch? i think on your model is actually integrated but i am not 100% sure.

have you power cycled the masterswitch at all? when you are able to access the web, is the serial cable attached or disconnected? you could try disconnecting it to make sure its not causing a problem too when it is attached.

' perhaps there is something physically wrong here '

I think you might be correct. We are doing some work in our DC anyways, and as a result this unit is going to be swapped out. Really appreciate your help and quick responses on this Pal.

Stephen
