AP7953 - with internal card AP9517MS3 - Failed SERIAL FIRMWARE UPDATE-HELP

Firstly -  please can someone advise the type of NMC in these units its it a TYPE 1 2 or 3?

Secondly, I had serial coms - then did a AOS 394 updater over serial XMODEM -  everything looked good. Now I can get any serial access. I get 3 RED/GREEN LEDS by the 7 segment displays, and a GREEN lashing network port status. When I press the reset I get a fast flashing Green/orange - So its doing something just not enough.

How can I get to the boot loaded?

The unit does not appear to DHCP or have a fixed IP.

Any ideas or articles I can go read?
