We are running many AP7941 rack pdu's in a production compute environment. Had only a couple of issues with them over the years. They are now End of Life (EOL), at least from a product sales prospective.
Does anyone know what the life expectancy of these pdu's is and/or should we be proactively removing them from our production infrastructure?

Hi Alan,
These types of products have design life of about 5-7 years but they can run for much longer depending on the operating environment, loading, overall usage, etc. I'd make a recommendation that if you have items running from around this age, that you look at budgeting for replacements but it is not necessarily required if you have redundant set up. We don't have an official policy on this either, it really depends on the user's environment and application and just how critical the PDU operation is and how much downtime is accessible if there is a problem. If you do want to be proactive and not necessarily run into problems based on the electronics' age, then I'd go with around 6 year old mark for replacing proactively.
Also, AP7941 will be replaced with AP7941B later this year which will be the same unit except with an upgraded network management interface.
