AP7598 amp question

Hello,

We have these PDU for a while now.  I am reviewing the spec again for our new HPC unit.  Are the C19 outlets have 20 amp per bank?  It has a CS8365 plug right?  Some places listed them as CS8365C (which is confusing me).

The "C" at the end, from my understanding stands for "California style plug". It was a requirment and CA came up with a while back. Some thought it was supposed to be for safety. Either way the only difference between the two plugs is the "C" on was grounded by the outer steel shroud, which also protected the male contact pins from damage when the cables are dragged around some movie/sound set every day. The grounded shroud helps absorb the Arc-Flash if the connector is plugged or unplugged while energized.

But I digress the
AP7598 is a 208 3-phase device with a max inline current of 35 amps total. Yes C19/C20 plugs are rated to handle up to 20 amps per plug. With C13/C14 up to 15 amps per plug. But just because the plug can handle that does not mean that the device will pull all that either. But keep in mind that the total of all plugs added together can not exceed 35 amps in the short term or 80% of that over a longer haul. The 80% rule is an electrical standard for breakers and fuses. They will break or trip and extended runs over 80% of the capacity.

Now that amperage is spread across three phases so depending on how you connect the gear (distributing draws across all banks/phases) and how the device(s) in question pull power (all from one outlet at a time or evenly across all its PSUs. Makes a ton of difference in powering gear. Since the AP7598 is a basic CDU then the only way to tell total power draw is with an amp clamp. You will more than likely need an electrician for that.

Thank you!  Sounds like it should be a direct plug with any other PDUs with CS8365 or CS8365C.
