MTN646991 Control unit 0-10 V REG-K/3-gang can not control the 0-10V signal properly

hi everyone,

So in the datasheet of MTN646991 its saying this device can giving out 0-10V(dc) but i measure it in reality its analog "output" basically just 100k Ohm Potentionmeter, the 10V(dc) is from Load(driver) and the MTN646991 just adjust the voltage of the 0-10V interface.

The problem I encountered was that the device's Potentiometer behaved very strangely. I tested it with 3 different drivers with same lamp (all 4 items are Constant Voltage type) :

1. MEANWELL ELG-240-24B : can not be dimmed

Interface = Signal voltage

- 100%    = 10.04 Vdc

-   50%    = 5.01 Vdc (same brightness as 100%)

-     0%    = 0.08 Vdc (flashing before turn off)

2. EUCHIPS EUP12A-1HMC-1 : can be dimmed

Interface = Signal voltage

- 100%    = 9.15 Vdc

-   50%    = 4.77 Vdc (dimmed)

-   15%    = 3.45 Vdc (dimmed)

-     5%    = 0.80 Vdc (dimmed)

-     0%    = 0.00 Vdc (off)

3. AIDimming PE-TL150TV24 : can not be dimmed

Interface = Signal voltage

- 100%    = 10.10 Vdc

-   50%    = 5.10 Vdc (same brightness as 100%)

-   10%    = 1.06 Vdc (same brightness as 100%)

-     0%    = 0.06 Vdc (off)

I used a Potentiometer to manually control the 0-10V(dc) interface then all 3 drivers all can dim the lamp normally.

So the problem is at the MTN646991 analog output...........

I tried downloading ETS Application for all 3 types of Dimming Curve but the result is still the same. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it?

Hello Theodoros!

Many THANKS for your feedback first of all.

To "So in the datasheet of MTN646991 its saying this device can giving out 0-10V(dc) but i measure it in reality its analog "output" basically just 100k Ohm Potentionmeter, the 10V(dc) is from Load(driver) and the MTN646991 just adjust the voltage of the 0-10V interface."
Yes, you are correct. We need to adapt this entry as the product does NOT provide a certain voltage by itself.

To "So the problem is at the MTN646991 analog output....."
Actually it looks a bit strange to me. According to the values you measured the device gives good values out.
There is, at least for me in a first glance, only one value beside what I would expect.
And this one is by the one which seems to work correctly (-   15%    = 3.45 Vdc (dimmed)).
I calculated the values how they should be and it gives the following picture.

Thomas_Rohde_0-1738844014795.png

So it seems to me that the resistance value is mostly exactly how it should be.
The question for me in this case is ... Why the two different drivers didnt work?

Please contact our local technical support for further support.
Maybe you could be so kind and borrow the technical support team your drivers for test?
So that they can analyse the problem more in detail.

Please come back here to share the outcome.

Kind regards
Thomas
