We have just installed one of the new Spacelogic dimmers, 5508D1D.
When a channel is set to Trailing Edge mode, the channel takes 5 seconds from zero to full brightness. I've been told this is to stop inrush current.
A. This sounds like an excessive length of time for current limiting on a 1A channel.
B. This is totally unacceptable for domestic installations.
Is there a setting to change to fix this?
Has anybody else seen this?
Is anybody else frustrated by this extreme limitation?

Hi,
As of firmware version 1.3.0, out of the box, the channels are all set to "Load Detection Mode". This operates in TE mode but has this extremely slow soft turn on, to allow detection of iron-core loads reliably before they can damage the channel.
As Mark mentioned.. once you have turned the channel on once successfully in this mode (and not seen a mode error*), you simply double click the channel button to confirm that the mode is correct, and the normal profile is enabled.
*If you see a mode error (slow red flash on the channel indicator), you need to change the channel to LE mode by holding the channel button for >10s.. in which case it should change to green).
The above should be explained in the included instructions, but if you don't have those, you can scan the QR code on the unit, and it will take you to the product documentation which includes the latest Installation Instructions which explain this.

Yes have seen this.
latest firmware there was a safety feature was added in case the mode is incorrectly setup.
Prevents the dimmer from damage.
If you confirmed it runs in the correct mode then double press each channel to disable this.
Hopefully this sorts it out for you.

I have resolved the issue and everything is running fine now.
Just a follow up question. Where in the documentation is the 5 second power up ramp mentioned?
I have found references to "mode confirmation", etc, but nothing mentions that without confirming the mode the channel will have a 5 second power ramp.

Hi,
The Installation Instructions don't specifically mention the behaviour of Load Detection Mode.. they just state that you need to perform the Mode Confirmation step for each channel as part of the installation process, which turns it off.
We are updating the Digital User Guide at present so I will make sure that we include some detail on this as well as adding it to the section on Troubleshooting.
