Upgraded from 2.1 to 2.2 - Can't login

Hi All,

I have written some new Connectors in Version 2.2.127 and wanted to deploy them onto a Server which already had SmartConnector installed (2.1.83).

I completely removed SmartConnector from the server, including deleting the database (nothing was needed that was in there).  I also deleted all files/folders from C:\ProgramData\SmartConnector and removed the directory in Program Files.

I then installed 2.2.127 - and now, when trying to login, I get the following screen and it goes no further:

Interestingly, if I put in a wrong username and password, I don't get the "Success" banner, it just returns me to an empty login page.  This has now happened on 2 different servers on 2 separate occasions with the exact same upgrade process as above.

On the first instance where this happened, I Uninstalled and reinstalled SmartConnector 4-5 times and it *just* started working!  However, on the 2nd server, I cannot get it to work at all...

Am I missing something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Mark

That certainly is strange behavior.  If you can provide some more details about your deployment, hopefully we can figure out what is happening...

What OS are you installing SmartConnector on?

What database server are you using?  Is it co-located on the same machine as SmartConnector?

Does the database get created during your install?

Do the log files contain any error information?

Hi Mark,

Sure...

The OS is Windows Server 2012 R2

Database server is co-lo and is running SQL Server 2012

The database is created during install

Log files do not show anything out of the ordinary.

However, interestingly,  having left the server well along for a day or so, it appears to now be working!

I have re-installed and re-produced the behavior again and it seems that everything starts working after 5-10 minutes or so... does SmartConnector do something on first run to check the database over and ensure everything exists?  I think that if it is a case where after first start checks are being performed, we need to look at the "Success" error message that gets displayed 🙂

I will let you know if I find anything further!

Thanks

Mark

The only thing that SmartConnector does differently on the "first run" versus any other is that is when the user database is created.  This shouldn't take any time at all; certainly not minutes so something very weird is going on here.
