Any plans to update to .NET Core / newer C#?
C# 7 (current language level if I am not mistaken) is old, awfully lacking when compared to competing modern languages, and basically a distant legacy at this point. Microsoft has been working hard bringing loved features from other languages and platforms into C# 10 / .NET core 6.
Does Schneider Electric plan to update / modernize EcoStruxure and upgrade to .NET core?
My worry is that EcoStruxure will left to languish similarly to Andover Continuum.
Is Schneider Electric willing to share what is in the pipeline for EcoStruxure platform for current and would be SmartConnector developers?

Hello,
I can only speak for Smartconnector and not the whole EcoStruxure ecosystem but:
Smartconnector will for the foreseeable future stay on .NET Framework. This is due to it depending on API's that Microsoft has decided to not port to .NET Core / .NET 5/6.
You can set the language to something higher in your extensions, but you will obviously be limited to the ones that are available in the .NET Framework. Still, there's plenty of cool stuff you can use that way. C#10 would be nice but C#7.3 isn't that old yet 🙂
.NET Framework will be maintained and updated by Microsoft for quite some time, so no worries there. While maybe not the latest and greatest, it is still a stable and secure platform.
I wouldn't worry about EcoStruxure going the way of Continuum. The EcoStruxure suite of software solutions is being heavily invested in and is constantly evolving and Smartconnector will continue to evolve with it.
