Sepam S40 as baycontroller

Hello Experts!

I know this isn't a standard application, I am pretty sure this isn't recommended but my costumer need this.

I have a Sepam S40 protection Relay. This relay is control 3 CBs in one time. I disabled the circuit breaker control functions to use freely the I11 and I12.

The protection is controlled by Power Scada Operation with ModbusTCP. Now I want to operate the outputs by SCADA commands. From the Hungarian SE Support I got the information I can do this with the TC bits which is assigned to the V bits by Logical Equations.

My question is: How can I do this because I can't find the TC bits in the logical equations. Or if it’s impossible, where can I find documents to prove that it’s impossible?

Thanks you for your answers!

Hi @Anonymous user,

Yes, you are right, unfortunately in the S40 series, we do not have Generic commands like the 80 series TC. They should be made a mixup with 80 series.

The unique way you can do it is by using a digital input to command the DJ.

It is a limitation of this model.

Best Regards

Here is where you can prove it to your customer, all TC in 40 series are pre-defined functions and cannot be used as generic controls (page 172 of the attached manual)

Just one more question @AndreMelo , with S80 protection is possible to do this application. If we change the S40 to S80 I will can access the TC bits in logical equation?

Hi @Anonymous user ,

Yes, you can, with 80 series you can use the TC in both Ladder logic and Logic equation, just pay attention in the manual cause some TC has a pre-assigned function.

However, for this kind of application, I would prefer to use a P3 since it has pre-defined objects. But anyway, the answer is YES.
