IEC 61850 SAS with station bus (around 2005): The IEC 61850 family of substation communication systems standards were released in the early 2000s. These standards promoted Ethernet based bay level (between bay and station level) and process-level (between switchyards and control rooms) connections using common protocols. The IEC 61850 based SAS started implementing station bus according to IEC 61850 standard. IEC 61850 in last decade provided improvement in DataPoint Quality Management (supposing evolution of IEC 61131-3), agnostic (com+electric) Configuration, fast automations (FLS 30ms DI to DO), distributed automation and standardised IED environment levels.
More recently IEC61850 has opên the path to other standards;
Ethernet seamless redundancy PRP/HSR (IEC 62439)and architecture,
fast CT/VT transmission (IEC61869)...
then new protection/control scheme like for hospital and dat Centers ASR (Automatic Self Reconfiguration), low cost directional overcurrent (sharing limited number of VT)
