Hi all,
Could you tell me please if there is any surge protection for the Ethernet communications on the ION meters?
Thanks!

The is no internal surge protection on the ethernet communication ports of the ION meters. The ethernet ports have the standard internal network termination for signal integrity and EMC. They are also designed to meet and exceed the isolation requirements of 1500V specified in 802.3.

I was wondering something like that on the communication lines. Thanks for the info.
P.s. If you wanna protect a component on your main electrical lines use Type 3 Surge protectors (Place as close to the component as you can).

All serial ports on ION meters do have some "surge protection" (usually a transient suppressor and/or a PTC and/or similar). The exact design topology and ratings vary greatly for serial communications.
